The Free Little Food Pantries project has brought the mini food pantry movement to Goderich. The pantries, spread out throughout the community of 8,000 people, will help to lessen food insecurity (being open 24/7/365). The project will also allow community members the opportunity to become direct agents of change themselves, by donating to the pantries, spreading the word about it, volunteering and more. The project will also ensure that local makers and businesses are prioritized in the construction and maintenance of the pantries.
The outdoor pantries are located at the following locations:
-
Goderich Tourism Centre (91 Hamilton St), towards Nelson Street
-
The backside of the Goderich Library, on Lighthouse Street
-
The corner of Bennett and Eldon Street, beside the John O’Keefe Park
While the pantries have lights affixed to them, it’s recommend taking a flashlight with you if accessing them at night.
The Salvation Army Food Bank and St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank occupy the southeast corner of Goderich.
