Community Living month is an annual awareness campaign that recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of the community living movement during the month of May.
We celebrated in the following ways:
The annual Gerbera Daisy sale was held on May 4, 2022; all 650 gerberas were sold that day, amazing!
Our banners were flown at the roadside; articles were published in local newspapers; our new website was launched; letters were written to Huron-Bruce election candidates.
May 6th kicked off our ‘Shine the Light’ on Community Living event. ‘Shine the Light’ is a day across Ontario where the province lights up blue and green for Community Living.
We enjoyed green and blue sprinkle donuts on May 26th.
On Tuesday, May 31, 2022 we celebrated by taking a “break” together and enjoyed a chocolate bar. Community Living Toronto’s “I Took A Break” social media campaign sees thousands of voices across Ontario join together to “take a break” in support of the rights and choices of people with an intellectual disability.
