Community Living-Central Huron is committed to assisting and supporting people to achieve their goals, vision, and dreams and to participate in the community through the promotion of social inclusion.
Service Principles
Community Living-Central Huron operates under the following Service Principles:
services and supports will be built upon an individual’s values, dreams, strengths, and needs. When we embrace the richness of diversity, recognize the gifts we possess and respect each other’s contributions, we will have a competent, carrying, and inclusive community;
the diversity of all people should be celebrated, valued, and promoted;
services and supports will be directed by the person supported and will be flexible; honour the right of choice, race, culture, gender, sexual preference, and socioeconomic background;
individualized planning processes will be provided to assist people to identify their life’s vision, goals, and dreams; planning processes will occur at a minimum annually, however, people’s changing needs and desires will be addressed on an ongoing basis;
self-advocacy will be promoted and respected; – provide services to people which promote social inclusion, individual choice, and independence to achieve their goals, assert their rights and ensure their safety and well-being, free of abuse;
services will respect people’s rights of privacy, be flexible, empathetic, and empowering, as determined by the changing needs of persons supported and available resources;
encourage people supported, as appropriate to access natural and paid support networks, such as families, friends, generic and specialized services, and significant others of their choice.
